The booking never arrives when you are free
It arrives at 9:40 on a Sunday night, or while you are mixing colour with one glove on. Then it is you, a phone, and a decision about your own week.
The phone is the only computer you have at work, and the only one your client has either. Software that needs a desk is software you stop opening.
A request answered three hours later is often a client already booked somewhere else. The reply has to be one tap, from wherever you are standing.
The no-show you remember is the one nobody reminded. A reminder that only goes out if you remember to send it is not a reminder.
Your phone shows the day. The rule runs on the server.
A 30-minute cut cannot be booked into the middle of your four-hour colour block, because that slot is never offered to it. Not hidden behind a setting: gone from the times your client can see.
What your client sees
11:30 sits inside a block you would rather keep whole. The client never learns it existed, so nothing feels refused.
A short service is never booked into a slot that would split a protected long block. This is the default.
A service at or under your quick threshold can be booked at any time inside a block, on the assumption it fits the processing time — handy for a quick cut while colour develops. Anything longer still cannot.
Protection only guards what clients book online. Booking someone in yourself always works, and events from your connected Google Calendar are respected in both modes.

Questions about the app
Both, and they are the same account. Chairwarden has been on the App Store since September 2026, and the web app runs in any browser. Keep the app on your phone through the day, and open the web version on a laptop when you want the calendar on a bigger screen.
No. Your client opens your booking link in whatever browser is on their phone, picks a service and a time, and pays a deposit if you ask for one. There is no client app and no account for them to create.
Reminders go out on a daily pass, so your client gets it in the day or two before the appointment rather than at an exact hour. You write the wording once. The default is short: their name, the service, your name and the time. Email reminders are on every plan; SMS reminders are on Individual, 500 a month, and each text keeps a "reply STOP to opt out" line.
Yes, on the web. There is an iOS app on the App Store, and the web app works in any modern browser including Chrome on Android. It installs to your home screen like an app if you want it to.
From the phone. Taking a booking, moving one, looking up a client's history and taking a deposit all work in the app. Two things are still easier on a laptop: importing a client list from a CSV or an export file, and reading the monthly stats. Time off is not a separate feature: you close the day in your opening hours, or put it in the Google Calendar you have connected, and a synced event is never bookable.
